CI Systems Engineer (Remote)

We are looking for engineers excited to build the fundamental test and deployment infrastructure of the Julia language and associated projects. 

 

Julia Computing's mission is to develop products that bring Julia's superpowers to its customers. Julia Computing's flagship product is JuliaHub, a secure, cloud based, software-as-a-service platform for developing Julia programs, deploying them, and scaling to thousands of nodes. Julia Computing was founded in 2015 by the creators of the Julia programming language for artificial intelligence, machine learning, analytics, data science, modeling and simulation. 

 

This work will have a direct impact on our goal of allowing users to write simple, high-level code and deploy their programs under a range of requirements. Possible areas of focus include continuous integration systems engineering, debug tooling integration, and build system tooling improvements. You will get to publish most of your work as open source, and many of the projects are already present in the Julia code repository on GitHub.


Requirements

  • Experience with shell scripting such as Bash
  • Experience with remote systems management via ssh (Experience with RDP, VNC, etc.. a plus)
  • Experience with continuous integration systems (GitHub Actions/Buildkite experience a plus)
  • Experience shipping binary deliverables to customer machines

Desired Skills

  • Experience with containerization/VM technology (Docker/KVM experience a plus)
  • Experience with debugging tools such as gdb or lldb (strace and rr experience a plus)
  • Experience with VM provisioning technologies such as Packer
  • Experience designing Web REST APIs
  • Skilled at automating tasks via scripting
  • Experience programming in C
  • Experience with autotools, autoconf, and C compiler toolchains
